Feisty Female Friday: Jennifer Lawrence

The FFF this week is Jennifer Lawrence.

Jennifer is an American actress and producer. She has starred in both action films and dramas, earning over $6 billion worldwide and making her one of the world's highest-paid actresses.

Jennifer was born in KY on a horse farm, where she was raised to be "tough" like her brothers. Through her childhood, she was often hyperactive and anxious, which vanished when she performed on stage, first in church plays and school musicals. Jennifer was 14 and on a family vacation in NYC when she was spotted on the street by a talent scout, who arranged for her to audition, eventually signing with CESD Talent Agency. While her mother encouraged her to go into modeling, she insisted on pursuing acting, which she considered a better fit for her.

She began her career as a teenager with guest roles on television. Her breakthrough roles, however, came Winter's Bone and the X-Men and The Hunger Games film series, making her character the highest-grossing action heroine of all time. Next came American Hustle, Joy, Red Sparrow, Don't Look Up, No Hard Feelings, and Die My Love. She followed with guest roles in several television shows. Additional memorable films include Garden Party, The Burning Plain, The Poker House, Like Crazy, The Beaver, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, House at the End of the Street, Joy, Passengers, Red Sparrow, and Bread and Roses.
Jennifer has won the Golden Globe, SAG, and the Academy Award, the second-youngest Oscar winner ever, People’s Choice Award, and has also provided the narration for the documentary, A Beautiful Planet.

Labeled one of the most influential people in the world by the Daliy Telegraph, Elle, Forbes, and the Celebrity 100 List, Jennifer was also named Entertainer of the Year, People's Most Beautiful People, Maxim's Hot 100, 100 Sexiest Women list, and was a Dior celebrity ambassador. She supports the World Food Programme, Feeding America, and the Thirst Project, DoSomething, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Special Olympics, Kosair Children's Hospital, RepresentUs, Time's Up , and Women's Marches everywhere.

Her Jennifer Lawrence Foundation advocates for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the production company Excellent Cadaver. She sang lead on the 2014 single "The Hanging Tree", which charted worldwide. Jennifer identifies as a feminist, has promoted body positivity among women, is a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, same-sex marriage, and reproductive rights.

She is married, lives in NY and CA with her husband and two sons.
