Feisty Female Friday: Hilary Knight

The FFF this week is Hilary Knight.

Hilary was born in CA and at the age of five, began playing ice hockey on boy’s teams. From an early age, she told her grandmother that she was going to the Olympics and wrote a book in second grade about a girl with a magical hockey stick who achieved that dream. Hilary says that she also developed her skills by watching NHL players.

She attended Choate Rosemary Hall and played hockey at the University of Wisconsin, winning two NCAA national championships, earning the NCAA Tournament MVP award, was the program's all-time lead scorer, was a three-time WCHA Offensive Player of the Year, and was chosen for the All-American First Team. Hilary is also the most decorated player in IIHF Women’s World Championship history and holds tournament records for career goals, assists, and points.

Hilary is now a forward and captain on the Seattle Torrent Team of the Professional Women's Hockey League and captain of the US women's national ice hockey team. She is one of the greatest players in women's ice hockey history, holding numerous records, and has been a dominant force in both international and professional hockey for nearly two decades. She has also been a driving force behind the advancement of women's professional hockey, was a key advocate in the formation of the PWHL, is a prominent force for gender equity in all sports and has been a central figure in mentoring the next generation of women hockey players.

She has competed in five Winter Olympics securing five medals in total, including a gold in 2026, was a flag bearer at the closing ceremony, and is the all-time leading Olympic scorer. Hilary has said that the 2026 Winter Olympics will be her final Olympic Games.
Hilary is widely known as the face of women's hockey in the US and hopes to be remembered for both her on-ice legacy and her work off the ice. She embraces her body confidence and femininity as a strong female athlete, has worked as a guest analyst during the NHL playoffs, and been the subject of documentaries. She is a featured player in an NHL video game, always raises awareness for women's hockey, and strives to inspire young girls to try the sport of hockey. Hilary has received three USA Hockey Bob Allen Women's Player of the Year awards.

Most recently, she appeared as a guest on SNL. Hilary lives in Utah with her partner speedskater Brittany Bowe where she also trains and spends time with her family. She and the Olympic Women’s Hockey Team will celebrate in Vegas this July with Flavor Flav after a gourmet lunch recently with Stanley Tucci in Italy.
