Stana Katic is a film and television actress known best for her portrayal of Detective Kate Beckett in television drama, Castle. She was born in Canada, to Serbian parents who emigrated from Croatia and moved to Illinois where she attended the DePaul Goodman School of Drama, studying acting there.
She starred as Kate Beckett, a NYPD detective on the television show, Castle. Her smart, no-nonsense attitude toward solving crime also made her an unstoppable force in the precinct. Her personal connection with writer Richard Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, with whom she has a humorous, emotional, and eventual romantic connection made her character a very relatable, smart, and tough policewoman, who also valued love, friendship, and trust. Her character was determined to uncover the mystery surrounding her mother's unsolved murder. She is one of television’s most favorite characters and was a trailblazer for female detectives on television today.
Stana was named Best Television Drama Lead Actresses, Most Glamorous Actresses, has starred in movies, theater, is fluent in five languages and holds dual citizenship in Canada and the US. She is an avid environmentalist, founded The Alternative Travel Project, and the Stana Katic Foundation, which focuses on women’s empowerment and women’s social issues.
Stana is married, has one child, and lives in LA.
