Feisty Female Friday: Reese Witherspoon

The FFF this week is Reese Witherspoon.

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born in LA and spent the first 4 years of her life Germany, where her father served in the US Army. The family returned to the US and moved back to TN.

Reese was soon modeling, appeared on several local television commercials, and placed first in a Ten-State Talent Fair. She appeared in her first major acting role in The Man in The Moon and earned rave reviews. Following her high school graduation, Reese decided to put her acting career on hold and attend Stanford University where she majored in English literature but soon starred in Pleasantville, Election, and Cruel Intentions. Her breakthrough role came as Elle Woods in the comedy, Legally Blonde, which was huge box-office hit and established her as one of the top female draws in Hollywood. Reese next starred in Sweet Home Alabama, won the best actress Oscar for her role as June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic, Walk the Line, Wild, Election, Four Christmases, How Do You Know, Gone Girl, and Water for Elephants.

Reese established the media brand Hello Sunshine to put women at the center of every story on television, in feature films, animated series, podcasts, audio storytelling, and digital series. She started the business with her company, Type A Films, and has produced multiple Emmy award-winning TV series, Big Little Lies, Little Fires Everywhere, and The Morning Show. It is also home to “Reese’s Book Club.”

She always plays a chipper-type women convinced of their own successful destiny with her expressive face, smooth strong southern accent, blonde hair, blue eyes, and positive outlook. She has won a Primetime Emmy and two Golden Globes.
Reese supports several charities, including Avon Foundation, Girls Inc., and Step Up.
She is divorced, the mom of three children, and lives in TN.
